In March 2013, the life of 16 year old Austin Newcomb changed forever. While waiting to cross Middle Country Road, Austin was hit by a car driven by a person with a suspended license. The driver immediately fled the scene.
Austin was left critically injured and fighting for his life. After suffering through a coma, many broken bones and 23 surgeries, it was still uncertain that Austin would survive. Now, two years later, Austin and his family continue to deal with the effects of his severe traumatic brain injury. He has started to respond to simple commands, but progress is painfully slow. Austin will require constant care for the rest of his life.
